Fresche Bioscience is a new generation SI QAC antimicrobial which delivers high performance, broad spectrum antibacterial, anti-fungal, mould and odour protection on surfaces to which they are either applied or infused. They are widely recognised as one of the worlds most advanced non-volatile, surface bonded antimicrobial, safe for people, plants, pets and the environment.

Fresche Treatments

When Fresche treatments are applied or infused into a substrate, they form covalent or ionic associations which lock and bond the Fresche active molecule to the surface. During drying the active ingredient changes from a monomer to a polymer, bonding to the surface.

Fresche Molecule

The Fresche molecule is a sword shaped long chain molecule which carries a positive nitrogen charge and a silane couping agent which affects the covalent bond. The molecule in its bonded state acts like a series of spikes which attract and destroy pathogens by mechanical penetration and terminal destruction of the cell. Fresche is non-leaching and remains attached to the surface, providing durable, persistent long term microbial control and protection of the treated surface. This non-chemical mode of action is highly efficient, terminal, and deadly for harmful pathogens.

In contrast, most common antimicrobials are leaching technologies, meaning they leave the surface on which they are applied and seek to disrupt pathogen cells by chemical iterration. This mode of action is inefficient and allows microbes to build resistance.

Leaching Antimicrobials

Leaching antimicrobials are typically chemical, heavy and organo metals [inc silver] and other nanotechnology approaches which deplete in performance as they leach from the surface. They eventually deplete to the point where the treated surface is no longer protected from microbial attack.

Fresche is now challenging the dominance of conventional antimicrobials on their key points of risk and concern. These include their chemical volatility, harmful compounds including organo and heavy metals [silver], their instability, toxicity, flammability, poor record in workplace safety, end user health impacts and quite importantly environmental bio-accumulation.
