As the years rolled by, the company started consolidating its business. In 2004, one of its companies – RMG Polyvinyl India Limited – faced a strange opportunity – an old closed factory looking for someone to turnaround its fortunes. The now not-so-young Arvind Goenka accepted the challenge once again. He modified old machines, modernized the work force and injected some old-fashioned self-belief in its employees to fashion yet another spectacular turnaround.
From a production figure of just 4 million sq. mtr. (6000 MT), the company increased the production figure to more that 17 million sq. mtr. of PVC floor covering, a phenomenal 5 times increase, in just 10 years.
In 2009, the company added a new machine called the Calendar, which is a hard press roller, used to smoothen sheets of material. In 2011, another new machine called the Spread Coating Line was brought in from Stork, Netherlands. This machine is useful in coating fabrics with very thin layers of rubber.Today, RMG is poised to supply the Indian market the entire range of floor coverings, including PVC floorings, PVC floor tiles and wooden laminates. Plans are also afoot to produce a wide range of special products, which are presently being imported from European countries.
Additionally, under the “Make in India’ initiative, RMG Polyvinyl India Limited has tied up with a reputed European manufacturer to produce world-class PVC membranes for water proofing of civil structures..
The success story continues unabated as the company adds more divisions, more products and a million more smiles on the faces of its employees, business partners and customers alike.
