Singing Bowls, used for meditation purposes including healing and sound yoga. Many refer to them as the Tibetan Singing Bowl as well. Music produced by a Singing Bowl carries medicinal and healing powers. Although it’s origin dates back to some 2500 years, Singing Bowls are still in high demand to this day.

Singing Bowls are either made of iron, copper, zinc, tin, lead, silver, or gold. Each material produces a different sound, so it is important to keep the sound in mind during the production. In the past, Singing Bowls produced with the Himalayan tradition adopted by monks for their secretive chants. During the time, a total of seven sacred metals made a Singing Bowl. However, their production simplified with time. The Himalayan people started making a simpler type of Singing Bowl with 80% copper and 20% tin with an intent to make it more accessible.

There was a time when people used Singing Bowls as a basic kitchen utility tool and a storage item. Interestingly, during the limitation of the legal tenders, the bowls presented as a kind of currency. However, trading Singing Bowls as a currency is no longer applicable. The thickness, weight, and composition of materials used in production of bowls measure the value of a Singing Bowl. Typically, the heavier it is, the higher value it possesses.
