PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Giant XTC Advanced 29er 1 is a lightweight cross country hardtail that is lightning quick up the climbs, fast on singletrack and a competent descender. The frame is exceptional at this price point.

If you want an XC bike with all the efficient and low weight of a hardtail but with a compliant rear end for comfort and better traction then the Advanced 29er 1 is for you.

Frame

Giant have packed in 25 years worth of manufacturing experience to the composite frame. Only high grade T-700 carbon fibres. The ride is stiff where it needs to be and compliant where it is desired all wrapped up in a package that is super light.

The monocoque construction is handmade in Giant’s own factory. A moulded one-piece front triangle is joined to the seat and chainstays. Less material is used to achieve the desired ride quality, strength and stiffness.

A precisely engineered rectangular downtube combined the steering stiffness of the Overdrive 2 steerer tube and pedalling stiffness of the PowerCore bottom bracket.

Overdrive 2 uses oversized headset bearings and a tapered steerer tube to give you more precise front-end steering. An oversized PowerCore bottom bracket and chainstay area provide a stiffer platform to transfer every watt of power through the pedals. Efficiency and rapid acceleration are the two key benefits of these features.

Internal cable routing and internal seatpost clamp keeps the lines clean. The frame also allows for a choice of 142mm or 135mm thru-axles. This gives you more choice when upgrading wheels.

Suspension

Matched to the frame is a Fox Float Evolution CTD fork with a 100mm of plush travel for taking on a range of off-roading conditions. This is a light fork and performance can be adjusted while you’re on the trail. Climb, Trail and Descend modes allow you to adjust the compression and damping to suit to the section of the trail you’re riding.

A 15mm thru-axle and tapered steerer improves stiffness for efficiency.

Components

Shimano XT/SLX 2x10 speed drivetrain and SLX brakes are performance at the price point. The brakes especially have great stopping power and modulation. Giant’s own wheels (P-XC2) are smooth rolling and carry their speed well for more confident riding.
