Applications

Hydraulic Drive, Furnaces, Chemical Plants, Machine Tools, Fertilizers, Transformers, Petro-chemicals, Oil Burners, Diesel Engines, Boilers, Vegetable Oil Processors, LPG, Tractors, Sugar Mills, Railways, Lubricating Oils, Filter Pumping and for other industrial applications.

INSTALLATION & STARTING

  • Ensure that motor and pump shafts are aligned properly.
  • Axle Play should be 1 to 2 mm between the Coupling parts.
  • Should be filled with oil, prior to starting.
  • Direction of the pump shaft rotation should be as indicated on the pump, looking from the shaft end.
  • All pipe connections should be free from leakage. Copper, aluminium or Synthetic material should be used as washers at joints. Do not use absorbing materials.
  • Outlet Pipe should be sunk in the tank at the same depth as Inlet pipe and they should be separated by about 10 cm.
  • Oil inlet / Delivery line taps should be open before starting.
  • For adjusting pressure, turn, pressure adjustment screw at the intake side end; to increase pressure turn in adjustment screw and to decrease pressure, turn out adjustment screw.

PROBLEMS AND REMEDY

Problems Reasons Solutions
Excessive noise while working Due to locking of air in the liquid and leakage in the suction line. Leakage in the suction line should be checked and it should be eliminated by tightening all connections.
Due to air bubbles in the liquid Same exercise as above. If noise still persists, replace mechanical seal.
Due to inadequate flow in the suction pipe. Find out oil level in the suction tank. It should not be too low. Clogging of suction pipe should also be checked and suction lift should be decreased
Vibration of the Relief Valve. Relief valve should be reset to open at a pressure slightly higher than the required delivery pressure.
Pump getting hot Due to misalignment of pump shaft and drive shaft Proper alignment between pump and drive shaft is necessary. Recheck of alignment may be done after pump cools down.
Due to cap nut touching coupling or drive shaft end touching the driven shaft or the coupling Readjusting coupling correctly should solve the problem.
Grinding or crackling noise Due to too high discharge pressure Discharge pressure gauge should be checked and pressure should be reduced by resetting relief valve.
Excessive wear of pump Due to insufficient lubrication or abrasive dirt mixing with liquid. Using fine mesh strainer in suction line will prevent dirt mixing with liquid.
For Non-delivery of oil Due to the following;
(a) Shaft rotation being in wrong direction (a) Shaft rotation should be reversed.
(b) Oil level being low in tank. (b) Tank should be filled with oil and end of suction pipe should be submerged.
(c) Assembly of flange wrongly done. (c) Re-assembly of flange should be done correctly.
(d) Oil intake pipeline or suction filter is choked. (d) Filter and intake pipe should be cleaned.
Failure to develop pressure (a) Due to setting of relief valve not high enough. (a) Relief valve should be adjusted to required pressure on the pressure gauge.
(b) Due to leakage of relief valve. (b) Piston and conical valve seats should be cleaned and lapped together, clean and re-assemble.
(c) Due to leakage at the joints. (c) Intake line of filter should be cleaned.
(d) Due to drive shaft speed being low. (d) All joints should be tightened.
(e) Due to drive shaft speed being low. (e) Motor RPM should be checked and seen that it is as per specification.
Oil leakage Due to packing getting damaged or mechanical seal being worn out. Packings should be replaced or change of 'O' rings in the mechanical seal is necessary for stopping leakage.
