Herringbone Gears

The herringbone gears are a variation of double helical gears with having both right and left hand element that is able to cancel thrust or side load on the bearings. The cutting of these gears are done using special cutting machines that suitably cut from both sides at same time. The helical grooves of herringbone gears looks like V shape when viewed from top. These gears are a bit expensive in comparison with other gears, as these required special shaping and cutting tools.
